It’s Been A Week

To say it’s been a week this week is an understatement.

The news that the boys are going back to school excites them but also has brought about a lot of anxiety for the youngest. Which has resulted in tears, bad behaviour bad sleeping and generally getting in a loop of not great behaviour this week.

Which in turn has meant the home learning has taken a hit.

Which on top of it being a month to Rhiannas anniversary and a memory popping up about our old dog being ill, its been a bit of an emotional week.

And then to top all that off I have had some hellish tooth ache this week which has really made me feel rotten, the house is upside down with all the decorating happening and it is all just a bit too much.

Don’t get me wrong I think it is the time for the schools to go back the boys are desperately missing their friends and they are aren’t suffering educationally as they are super stars getting on and doing the work that is set but I am not a teacher by any means. But when Boo exclaimed his favourite being in the house the other day was one of the dogs I think he has totally had enough of us all.

But I would have preferred them going back and immediately seeing another household, this is a personal preference as my boys have spent their lives around other family members and to have had that taken away from them over the last year has hit them hard. Explaining yet again to a 7 year old that he can go to school but seeing his family is still not allowed was yet again hard as he is questioning it and not really understanding why that this is all ok.

It’s tough as we have no answers and I hate him missing his family as much as I hate him missing his friends.

Then with Rhianna’s anniversary looming, and the house being all over the place, it will be amazing when its finished but my god its hard when it is all everywhere! Having felt rotten for some of the week because of my tooth and the lack of going to sleep from the boys as they aren’t that tired or fretting about things changing again, or going back to school and then having to do another lockdown, I think this week we are all really running on empty.

We need a break.

We need to spend a lot of time by the sea.

We all go to the sea for our sanity, it is the one place I feel calm whatever my mood. It is the place I feel closest to Rhianna, I don’t know why but I 100% feel she would be a beach bum like her brothers. It is where they feel free. They aren’t kids that sit on the beach, they aren’t kids that swim in the sea. They roam, and they play in the sea. They hunt crabs, they search for treasures, they jump waves, they paddleboard, the kayak. They are active things on the beach and they do not stop. They are on the go from the minute we arrive at the beach to the minute we end.

They love the beach in the sun, winter, rain, cold and wind. There love it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. They are children that are most at ease on the beach, roaming and mooching.

It is what they need at the moment, it is what we all need at the moment.

And it is something we are definitely missing, we need to fill our beach cups up for sure.
