Food Rut
We have certainly got into a food rut, and without even realising we have done it to be honest.
And it is a bit of a nightmare, I have lost all interest in cooking, literally all the minimal interest I used to have has completely up and left and I have no desire to do any cooking.
Which means Mr L does most of the cooking.
But even he is getting fed up with it now.
So he has ordered a couple of Gousto boxes over the last few weeks to try to give us some inspiration to cook, and it kind of worked but not really.
We are still in a rut.
And if I am totally honest it is a rut for every meal of the day.
We are really struggling with our breakfasts, lunch and dinner and our snacks.
We have started just eating quick and easy food, or just snack on crap all day long, or even worse than all of that we have been missing meals.
It is awful.
We all feel hideous and we need to change.

But I honestly don’t know where to start.
I need to feel inspired by food again.
I need to want to pick up the ingredients and start cooking again.
And I want to make things that are exciting and fun to eat.
I want us all to be eating healthy again.
I want us to feel better.
I want us to eat three healthy meals a day.
I want us to snack on healthy options.
I want all the crap and rubbish food and snacks to disappear.
But I just don’t know where to start, or how to start.
So currently we are stuck in a food rut and I am not really sure what we can do to get out of it!

I suggest starting with one meal of the day and sorting that out first, say breakfast or lunch (including what you ‘pack up’ for your children). Oats or porridge with some fresh fruit (chopped up pear or nectarines, blueberries, banana) make a good nutritious breakfast, for example.
Another idea is to cut out all unhealthy snacks. Just don’t buy them; buy fruit instead. If the food isn’t in the house no one can eat it. I’ve often read the phrase ‘improved diets start in the supermarket’. And when I say ‘diet’ I mean what you eat everyday, not as in ‘going on a diet’.
Another idea would be to enrol the help of a dietitian to re-inspire you… or go back to Weight Watchers or was it Slimming World and get some support from them.
Good luck, I’m sure you can do this.
Thank you this is what we are doing x
