Busy, Busy, Busy

I haven’t been around on line for a few days now for many reasons, one being that I feel a bit pants. I really thought it was a bad case of hay-fever, but right now I am not 100% sure if that is what it is or if it something different. All I know is that I feel pants, but I am working through it as us Mums do!

The second reason I have been so absent is because I have been so flaming busy. With work and the house.

We have lived in our house for four years nearly and when we brought it, it was an ok house but was a tip. There was a list of stuff that had to be done that would make this house a good house.

We have never got far with that list to be honest, we had great plans, and then I fell pregnant and Mr L lost his job. Since then we have been struggling to stay in the house let alone do anything else to it. But we have been lucky, we have accumulated a few things that we need to complete the house, from people not needing or wanting the things that we need etc so we have been given a lot of stuff for free. But the age old living with a builder, our house is always the last thing on Mr L’s mind. So all of these things have been sitting around the house and collecting dust.

This year we made a pact that this things were going to be completed, and finished once and for all! And for some reason this was the weekend that we started on the work.

So Baba and I spent most of the weekend outside. Our back garden has taken a battering and looks pretty naff, I see all these lovely pictures of people’s gardens and I hate ours. So we have decided to put seed down on the patches in the lawn, to give the lawn another chance to see if it will grow. Baba and I went and brought some plants and have planted them in some huge terracotta pots to see if we can get them to grow, so that we can have a bit of colour in the garden and to divide the garden up a bit. We have an area at the end of the garden where the dog goes to do his business and at the moment, we have a school bench along the floor to make sure no one goes down the dogs end. However when Baba’s friends now come over they decide to climb the bench, this is not a good idea. If they fell there is a massive chance they could fall into a pile of poo! Not a good look, don’t think they would want to come back. So my plan is to have all of these terracotta pots along this area instead, and then there will be a barrier and they will look pretty.

My next venture for outside is sorting the decking and the furniture, I have already sanded down half of the furniture, to a gorgeous light colour, and am still thinking off painting it a duck egg blue at the moment, but I shall see how that goes. The next challenge is the decking, the decking was my mothers day present last year, and I love it. But it has been left for a year untreated and it needs to be sorted, and cleaned and treated. Once that is done it will look lovely.

So while Baba and I were getting mucky outside and organising the garden, Mr L was inside. Ripping out kitchen cupboards, moving drawers from one unit to another and fixing in our lovely free dishwasher that we got given. If only it were that simple he also had to deal with the burst pipe, clean up the kitchen from the flood and replace the pipe on the dishwasher and then fix the dishwasher back up again. But you know he did it, and I have a lovely dishwasher that works, and is fantastic.

So the next venture for the kitchen to paint all the doors in a white and black pattern to coincide with the white walls and the black tiles, rather than the off coloured cream that they currently are!

And the next venture for Mr L, changing the downstairs shower room, (just don’t ask people) back into a downstairs toilet, with the lovely unit that my parents brought and then decided they never wanted. We have a toilet and basin waiting to go in, so that is what his next job is going to be.

So if over the next few months I am a bit vacant at times, I will be painting, planting, ripping out and replacing! Busy, busy, busy that’s us!
