Boo and Separation Anxiety
Baba had a spell of about a month where he hated being left. He would cry a little, do a bit of moaning and then would easily be distracted by another person or something going on.
It started and then it disappeared.
I remember telling people about his separation anxiety.
Thinking I knew what it meant.
And then Boo came along.
Life with Boo has been different. I am different. I am more anxious and don’t let him out of my sight much, but people around us our different. I had to battle to keep Baba with me, I have to battle to get people to look after Boo. So generally 99% of the time he is with me. 100% of the time it is me and Mr L and at ten months separation anxiety has hit.
At first I didn’t really think much of it.
He cried when I left the room. He got distressed I put him down and walked away. But it was ok I knew what to do.
I talked to him, explained to him, left him with a toy and only left for a couple of minutes.
I was confident it would be a quick phase.
One that would disappear as quickly as it started just like his brother.
We are now heading for our fifth week like this.
There is no crying, or a little moaning and then being distracted.
As soon as my arms leave his he starts.
We can be in the same room and he cries.
Cries is a lie.
He screams, he screams from the bottom of his heart and he bawls. The tears run freely and they don’t stop.
In the last five weeks he has made himself sick twice from screaming and crying because I went into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee.
He has screamed and screamed, and all ideas of distraction go out the window.
Nothing distracts Boo.
He can be in his Daddies arms and can be screaming for me.
It’s heartbreaking, for him, for me, Mr L and Baba.
We have done the things we can think of and now are a little stumped. I have to have him not on my hip at sometimes in the day, but I want him to know I will be back and I am a little stumped what else to do?
