Bank Holiday Monday!
Yesterday was bank holiday, and I always find you either do nothing or do DIY there never seems to be an in between in our house. So this bank holiday we decided to be a little different.
Emma and her boys came down, now not living down here for long we thought that we would take them to our local carnival, so the little boys could have fun. Baba is funny with things like this we are discovering.
He doesn’t like large characters we have known that for a while, if he sees a large Bob the Builder or anything similar he freaks. Lollibop was interesting in that respect, as he pretty much hated it all. But I wouldn’t actually say it is a hate, he really wants to see, but then gets freaked out at the last moment, so I do feel a little sorry for him and I know how he feels I was funny with things like that when I was little. But yesterday we discovered that it isn’t just the characters, yesterday he was really excited when the floats started coming through the town. He was shouting that he could see them, and looked really excited and then the drumming started.
He FLIPPED to say the least.
He started screaming and wanted to go home, as they were scary. Oli meanwhile was bouncy and dancing in his chair having a great time! But Baba was having none of it.
Mr L had to bribe him into the local shop, and keep him in there until the drums disappeared, once they had gone past, he wasn’t bothered at all and was then more interested in the pirate ship that was coming down.
However what I find the strangest is that we then continued to walk down to the ruins where the rest of the days events were being held and the drums were behind us and Baba wasn’t bothered at all. He didn’t even really notice that they were behind us, he was more interested in the pirate ship by then. It is very strange, and is a fear that we can’t really predict as the things you think he would hate he loves! Bizarre.
But putting Baba’s scare aside the rest of the day went with a breeze, the kids loved running around, the bigger boys had food so they were happy, and it was nice just to chill and do nothing really wander around and just do everything at a slower pace!
