A Whole Year

So a year ago I sat and wrote this post with tears running down my cheeks!

It doesn’t seem a year ago that it happened, so much has happened in that time and so many things have changed. There has been family uproar, upset, arguments, screaming matches at times, people have had operations, health scares, going for operations. The world has changed ten fold and isn’t stopping.

Our life is fast and forgetful and unforgiving, we rush around all day, going from here there and everywhere, sometimes never remembering. Nearly always just a passing thought bundled in with the bustle of the day.

A year ago today the world was slow, for a few precious moments it was completely still. It stopped, our world as our family stopped. We changed, some will say for the worst some will say for the best. But all will agree never the same again.

Families all have problems, families all have skeletons, ours had a person keeping it all together. The last remaining jigsaw piece. A year ago that piece was no longer there and the jigsaw fell apart. For some it is held together out of loyalty, because that is what you do. For others there has never been loyalty and there will never be peace, there was respect for the holding piece, there is no more respect the last shreds have been ripped out and thrown away. A new life has started and the old pretence has been buried, along with the binding puzzle piece.

But that doesn’t mean that we aren’t OK, we are all surviving and coping in our own ways. I for one think the shreds being thrown is a good thing, people now know where they belong. They are living their lives again, they are not being pulled down by people that shouldn’t be pulling them down. They are free! That is a good thing.

A year ago even though time stood still, there was peace, and calm around us. Today going to lay flowers and walking up to the grave there was peace and calm again.

A forgiving peace, a happy calm, life is hard, life is ruthless and horrible at times but we will all be OK. Everything will be fine!
