A Marina Walk

Today I woke up and I really just wanted to get out of the house.

I didn’t want to go and do shopping as Baba hates it, and it usually leads to him getting fed up and misbehaving. But at the same time, where the weather isn’t great he is slowly getting into the habit of being bored and nothing curing that boredom except his computer, even though he has a stack of stuff to do.

So I wanted to get out and do something, go somewhere a little different.

Usually when I feel like that we head to the beach, but it was just too wet and windy and a tad grim to do that today. So instead we thought we would go to our local marina, it isn’t somewhere we have ever been before, but the boys and Mr L love boats, Mr L would love to own a boat one day, so I thought they would all enjoy it.

And they really did.

There were tons of boats, ranging from little to small.

Which the boys were fascinated with, and Boo owned practically all of them by the time we had finished.

We walked around the whole marina, from one end to the other basically doing a huge circle. And they loved that for the majority of the time, they were free just to run.

Boo was amazing and managed all of the walk, with just a little time on Daddies shoulders.

Just before we decided to stop at the cafe we got to see a boat coming into the marina, and the lock opening and closing and filling up with water, which Baba found totally fascinating and something that he has never really seen before.

Our plan was to stop in the cafe for a quick drink, but once we arrived it was so lovely in there that we decided to have our dinner, and a little rest before we walked back around to the car. I am glad that we did as the food was lovely.

Everyone ate nearly all their food, and it was a nice change than just grabbing a quick bite to eat.

We walked around the other end of the marina and the boys got to experience their first house boats. Or boat flats, or even boat caravans as Baba called them, all along the canal side. He found these fascinating and was really interested in how they lived on the water and that people actually lived in them. Boo owned a few of these as well by the end of our walk.

All in all in was something new, something not too far from us, and something that the boys found really interesting, and a great family day out. Much better than being stuck indoors with a bored child.
