20 Week Scan
Friday was a busy day, we had our 20 week scan in the afternoon. We decided that we would collect Mr L at lunch time and then Baba would go to my mums while Mr L and I went to the scan, as it was a good hour away and at 4.30pm so we decided that two things would happen, Baba would either fall asleep and miss the whole thing or would be incredibly grumpy as he would be hungry.
We finally got to Mums about 2pm we all had some lunch and left Baba with Mum not knowing where we were going and he wasn’t actually that bothered either if I am honest, he was quite happy to be playing with Nanny and really wasn’t that bothered that we left in the first place.
We got to the hospital incredibly early as we always seem to do, and went and sat in Costa having a drink before the scan. We both discussed what we thought the baby would be, as we knew that we wanted to find out the sex. We were both excited, and Mr L was really excited about telling Baba as he has been waiting to tell him since the day we found out.
We went into the scan and hardly had to wait before we were called, as soon as we got in the baby was clear as anything on the scan. We got to see all of the heart, the chambers going to the heart, the bones, back, tummy, legs, the head and all the brain. There was one point when the scan went over the babies face and we saw all of the skeleton of the babies face, seeing the eyes, nose and mouth. That was a little strange and then we were asked if we wanted to find out the sex. We both eagerly said yes and were told that it was a little girl. We were both so excited, as it makes the whole family complete having a baby girl and a big brother!
We were so excited we already had a name for either a boy or a girl, as we wanted to tell Baba everything when we told him. The sex and the name all in one hit. There was a little discussion on the variation of the name but we finally got there in the waiting room. So by the time we left we couldn’t wait to tell Baba.
We got back to Mums, and straight away told Baba. He was so excited he literally punched the air with excitement and claimed the scan pictures as his own straightaway, putting them away in his own book. He was so excited that Mummy had a baby in her tummy and it was a sister that he got straight on the phone and told his auntie and his cousins, practically shouting it down the phone.
We finally had our tea, and as soon as we finished Baba wanted to go to Daddies Nanny and tell her as well, he was so excited. It has been a weekend of excitement. Baba has told everyone he has seen that he has a new baby, and that it is a sister, even telling the nurse yesterday who was doing his 3year old injections. He took his pictures to school and told all of his friends at school and his teachers, he is so excited and is constantly asking when the baby is coming. I think the next 20 weeks may be a long time coming!
But it is lovely that he is so excited, it really makes it really exciting for Mr L and myself, it is also great that I get to buy pink and pretty things. I literally can not wait!

Congratulations, a baby girl how exciting
