Using Your Scrapbooking Scraps!

When you scrapbook, you end up with scraps of paper that are cut off from the scrapbook pages.

I am a person that doesn’t really chuck away these scraps. Quite often I make an album that needs a piece of paper that is 7×7 inches square and cutting that out of a 12×12 inch piece of paper, leaves me with scraps that are still a good size, and can be used for embellishments, photo mats, or tags.

It is something I love to do, as I really do hate to chuck away paper that could be useful.

But that scraps pile gets bigger and bigger with every scrapbook page and album that is made.

But that pile doesn’t have to be used just for scrapbooking.

I read a lot of books, and a lot of business books, so they are larger size books than the usual novel, and I am always looking for a bookmark that is as large as the book and can hold my space in the pages, without getting lost. As this is a problem I have found in the past.

The other day I decided to make a book mark that was large enough for these books, which are all roughly A4 in size. I thought about making one via some material, or knitting, or crochet but then I decided that the best thing would be to use the scraps that I have in my scrapbooking box.

It was a really simple craft basically made out of two pieces of card from the scraps box, and added to that I put some lace either side of the patterned paper.

I then added some flowers that I had left over from an album that I had punched out the other day, and added some embellishments to the book mark to finish it off and make it a lovely pretty book mark to keep my place in my books.

A really simple paper craft that uses up some of my scraps from scrapbooking and album making, and one that was completed in no time at all!
