Trying Times
Baba is three in October and the last few weeks seem to have got harder and harder with regards to his behaviour! I thought the terrible twos were bad the terrible threes seem a lot worse!
I am not sure whether it is because he is tired, sleep has been an issue, as it has been so light and he just seems to play when it is light, but still gets up at the same time every day. Regardless of the time he has gone to sleep. We have also been exceptionally busy and he has had a lot of late nights recently with weddings, preparations and just visiting people! But I don’t think that can be the cause of everything.
Baba has got a very cheeky, lets push you as far as I can possibly go attitude, just like me and his dad, put recently that pushing has got further and further and it has got to the point of being rude and just down right non complement about every single thing in life! He has become very hard work.
We went through a stage a while ago where he was hitting and shouting at both of us a lot, we managed to tackle it and seemed to come out the other side. Well I think it was a honeymoon period, as we seem to have gone back to the previous ways, ten fold! His hitting of both of us has gone up a gear, and he kicks and screams at us both regularly. It is blooming hard work.
Yesterday we had friends round and he lost it over an orange spatula, that he wanted and his friend was playing with. He completely lost control and I had to remove him from the whole situation which resulted in a frenzied attack in his bedroom, he sounded like he was coming through the roof! He was on a mission and he was not going to calm down, it took a long time to get him to settle, and it was really the breaking point in our house.
We are going to start a new system, we brought some stickers yesterday, he loves stickers and he seems to work well with them. Today I am going to be making a behaviour chart and starting really implementing that he needs to behave to get stickers and see how we get on. As at the moment he is hard work and I don’t want people to think that he isn’t fun to be around!
Have you had any success with behaviour charts? How have you used them? I would love some tips if you have used them before.

My son is 3 in October too and I know where you’re coming from! From experience the key to sticker charts is consistency. Also I’ve always found the old ‘reward the good, ignore the bad’ philosophy seems to work. Good luck!
We are doing the reward good ignore bad but he just seems to carry on and on I am sure one day he will get it, but he does seem to be getting a bit better. Hopefully we are turning a corner! xx
I am so with you here hun. My almost 3 year old is exactly the same. It is exhausting isn’t it *hugs*
Totally exhausting! I agree xx
