The Gallery – Mother Love

A mother’s love lasts a lifetime,

It is constantly changing but always there.

She is your all and everything,

The most amazing person ever,

You depend on her for everything

But you grow,

You become independent your own person

Your become distant from your mum

She doesn’t complain

She stands in the wings checking you are OK

Waiting for the time to wrap her arms around you once again

Wipe up the tears from the first break up

Clean up the mess from the first fight

She takes the years of teenage-hood

The screaming, the shouting, the stress

She gets up with you for your exams

She stays up with you late at night helping you get that last revision in

She drinks coffee waiting patiently, hoping praying, for those exam results

Every feeling you feel she feels too

She goes to bed and lies awake waiting for you to come in from that pub, club, party

Never admitting she worries all night

Until she hears that click in the door

She packs your bag for you to go to University, or move home

Smiling and living in your joy

Making it the happiest day of your life

To go home and sit in the silence,

She never tells you how sad she was that first night.

She phones the next day to check you are OK

You roll your eyes, ‘mother again’

She has missed you she wants to hear your voice.

You grow up and she never complains,

She watches in the wings, being proud of everything you achieve.

Being there whenever you need her, always waiting and watching

Being ready to wrap her arms around you once again

Then one day her world changes, her love is stretched that little further

She never thought she could love another as much as her own child

Until her child’s child appears

The love starts all over again

The bond begins to grow

Once again that mother who has had an independent child for so long

Is now needed all over again

She has a grandchild to love and cherish

One that dotes on her every word

And adores her like her own child!

A grandmother’s love and mother’s love is all the same…

 One that lasts forever!

This is a picture of my mum holding Baba for the first time, the look of love is already there, it is a look that she has had with all three grandchildren.
