National Rainbow Baby Day 2021

Today is National Rainbow Baby Day, a rainbow baby is a term used within the baby loss community for many years. Tommy’s describe a rainbow baby as a baby born following a loss during or after a pregnancy. For parents, rainbows symbolise hope and light after a dark time.

Having a rainbow baby isn’t a given unfortunately.

There is no guarantee that you will have a rainbow baby after a loss unfortunately.

There is non at all.

So for the people that are lucky enough to have a healthy rainbow it is a huge thing.

It is the light after the darkness.

But it doesn’t make your families complete.

You are still missing children. You will forever miss those children.

But the rainbows give you back some of your light.

We are a family that have lost three babies. Rhianna Lily and two other miscarriages.

BB was our sunshine baby, he was born before any losses. Our losses are our angel babies and Boo was our rainbow baby, he was born after the losses.

We were lucky we got our sunshine and our rainbow.

Some families don’t get either, some only get one or the other.

Today we celebrate all the rainbows, but we also remember the losses before and the parents waiting for their rainbows and the parents that won’t ever get their rainbows.

Babyloss isn’t unfortunately as simple as a loss and then a rainbow baby. Life is not that simple. Babyloss will never be that easy.

Today we celebrate and remember all babies and parents and siblings who have and are experiencing babyloss in their lives.
