Lost Friendship’s

The days used to be so simple and easy
But now all they are, are memories
Nothing we used to have could ever be rebuilt.
I never knew what we had lost,
All the closeness and love that was around all of us.
Is lost forever!
And it is getting harder and harder to face.
To face that we now have to cope on our own.
And all the support that we used to get
We can no longer have
We can ask, but no one would understand
Are we going to be like this forever?
I don’t want to ruin the memories
But I feel a grievance.
I just want the feeling once more,
The closeness, the security that we used to all feel.
The laughter that we used to share.
The jokes that no one understood except us!
I knew it wouldn’t last forever
But I didn’t think it would be lost so quickly.
I don’t want eleven years of my life to be just memories
I want it back
I miss it
I think I need it back!
I no longer want to be independent
I want to be a child that can’t cope without their friends.

This was a poem that I wrote when I was at university away from friends and family for the first time. I have chosen to publish it for Writing Workshop this week. I decided to do prompt number 2. Lost
