Hospitals, Hospitals, and Some More Hospitals
So Baba didn’t get any better over the weekend, in fact Saturday night at 8.45pm we were on route to the local A and E. As his temperature was not going down, even with medicine and he hadn’t lost his croup all day. Which usually does disappear at some point in the day.
As we were driving to the hospital, we passed a queue of traffic coming out of the village where he was supposed to be going to the fireworks, and he didn’t even notice that anything was happening he felt that poorly. I took my mum with me, as I didn’t want him to do something silly like have a fit while I was in the car on my own with him, as Mr L had to stay at home with the dog because of the fireworks.
Once we arrived at the hospital and had our initial checks, I was really pleased that we had decided to take him to the hospital as his temperature had risen again. Even though his medicine had been taken nearly an hour before.
We were seen to by the doctor and she agreed that he had a very bad throat and ears so she decided to give him a liquid steroid to try to calm his croup down. But it would mean that we would be there for a while, but they would get us a bed as there weren’t any available. Needless to say no bed turned up, although Baba wasn’t that bothered he had Robots on repeat and a toy kitchen to play in. We were in on bonfire night on a Saturday after all!
After two attempts at getting the steroid in, the first lot was spat across the floor, and three long hours of being observed we were finally let out about 12.30am. He was better but he still had quite a bad night, waking up at least three times and crying every time he coughed, although the improvement was that he went back to sleep better than Friday night.
Yesterday he was a bit more lively, and actually did eat a little bit of lamb and some bacon sandwich, but was still very wheezy throughout the day. However last night was a really bad night. Baba was awake a few times in the night, crying and screaming and then at 4.30am he had a temperature hitting 40 degrees and was screaming and crying for a good half hour. His temperature didn’t go down for nearly an hour, so when he eventually woke up I booked him into the doctors and off we went again.
This time we had a complete check and no he hasn’t got a sore throat or sore ears, but the doctor did agree that he most certainly does have an infection so he gave Baba some antibiotics. So far today we have managed to get two doses down him and he is a lot more perky, he still sounds wheezy and is very quiet when talking but is lively in himself. So we need to see how he does tonight and whether he is better or not, and whether we have turned a corner.

Oh poor Baba. It is so hard when they are ill and you just can’t seem to find anyone to look after them properly. Hope he continues to improve
He was much better after the doctors gave him some antibiotics thanks xx
I hope that he is better, they seem to perk up pretty fast, but it is very scary
Thank you, luckily the doctor gave us some antibiotics on the Monday and he was much better after a couple of days on them xx
