Halogen Oven – A Review

For the last for weeks we have been reviewing a Halogen Oven. I have to be honest I had never heard of a Halogen Oven before I was offered one to review, and mentioned it to Mr L who was totally excited as he had wanted one for ages. He is the cook in the house he does generally know what he is talking about.

He was right as well! I was really shocked when it arrived and thought that it would be huge, but it isn’t and fitted on our kitchen side easily. The halogen light in the oven means that the preheating time is reduced and there is a fan assisted function which means the air is circulated so the cooking time is reduced and there is no turning needed. The oven come with two different level racks, tongs and lid stand and there are more accessories available.

I couldn’t work out how it would work to be honest, but as I said Mr L isn’t generally wrong, and he was proved oh so right with this. It is so easy. You literally put the dial to the temperature you require, and the time you want and it is done.

Everything does cook quicker, I am not that adventurous cook, but I was impressed. Cheese on toast, nice and quick and so easy.

We have had pizza and garlic bread, literally a couple of minutes.

I have made some cakes in there, biscuits all have been gorgeous tasting. We have had pork chops and all the trimmings, the roast potatoes were lovely, nothing dries out in this oven I was amazed. Being the simple cook that I am though, the thing that impressed me the most was jacket potato done in 45 minutes, rather than the couple of hours it takes in my cooker. It came out with crisp edges, unlike in the microwave, totally impressed by this.

However the halogen oven doesn’t just cook oh no, it has a great defrosting programme that worked really well. I hate the defrosting programme on my microwave but this worked quick and was easy to take the lid off to check how the meat was getting on defrosting.

But the best thing about it is it has a self cleaning function, fantastic when you are doing meats. Much better than cleaning those horrible pans off. All you need to do is put in some washing liquid and water, put it on the cleaning function and away you go! Fantastic anything that self cleans in this house is a bonus!

I love this and use it lots, I would and have recommended this to people I know already it is a great oven. I think it is great for people on their own, students and people learning to cook as it is all there and for the retail price of £39.99 with accessories as cheap as £6.99 (here) you can’t go wrong. You will totally get your money out of this!

Disclosure:  I was provided with a Halogen Oven to review and received no other compensation.  All of the opinions expressed in this post are my true own opinions and have not been influenced by the compensation I have received.

  • The halogen oven is a fantastic cooking appliance, some people don’t seem to like them much but myself & most other people I know who have one think they’re great.

I’ve actually heard of people who have given up using their gas or electric ovens completely after buying a halogen oven.

I also like how it uses far less power than a large regular oven & it also cooks a lot faster, with these two benefits you will be cutting a little off your electricity bill… which is always a good thing 🙂
