Getting Fit and Healthy Week One
Last year before the wedding I decided that I had to lose a little weight to actually get into my dress. I tried all the diets last year and actually had the most success with Juice Plus.
I got married I fitted in my dress and I left it.
Over the last few months the weight has started to creep back on for both Mr L and me. The last couple of weeks we decided that we really needed to do something about it. Once and for all.
I decided to reorder some Juice Plus shakes and Mr L has had a few visits to the health food shop ordering some things for him.
But we have been slack, working on the kitchen plays havoc with your food and your preparation and to be honest the past few weeks we haven’t always had a fully functioning kitchen. Not one either of us could get to anyway and we certainly haven’t had the space to do a big food shop or to store food when we have shopped. This has finally changed at long last, as we finally are doing the finishing touches in the kitchen with only the walls left to do really. So I am hoping that we are going to finally get back on track.
It is a big life style change for us. For me especially. We both eat to our moods, and I eat a lot if I am bored. But things have got to change.
For us to have better lives, healthier lives, and to prepare us for the future.
So it isn’t just about the shakes, it isn’t just about loosing weight both of them are great. But it is about the bigger picture and that to be honest takes time.
For starters I don’t drink enough. It is a big problem for me and one that I really want to get on top off. I literally can go a whole day with one drink, I know hideous, but it does happen. I don’t like water, but I know I need to drink it, however if there is coffee near by or a bottle of coke I will always choose them. I have made a conscious effort over the past few weeks to only offer the boys water, or sugar-free squash and try to stop all other drinks that they have, that is something I need to do for myself. So I have a plan to put a timer on my phone to remind me to drink. I have decided if I do that for a month then hopefully I should drink enough. Just to have a glass of something every hour. It has to be an improvement from what I am doing at the moment.
I am not forcing myself to just drink water as I don’t really like it but I am going to make an effort for it not to be fizzy, however as I stand with drink at the moment if it is a coffee that is ok, I will refine it later down the line. Just to drink is the main thing.
To drink regularly, and not drown myself with a pint (of squash) at the end of the day, because I haven’t had anything since the morning is my main aim.
I am not being unrealistic here, I am not going to attempt to do a thousand and one things in one go, because we are still renovating a house, I have two boys to look after and I run my own business to have enough to do so adding too many goals at once will just lead to a disaster, and this isn’t something that can be failed at. I know my eating isn’t great and I know I need to exercise more, but all those things will come.
First it is to drink.
Breaking that down even further first it is to stop the fizzy and drink enough in a day.
For now that’s all I am focussing on. For one week only, it is just to drink enough, and no fizzy,
Next week I shall add something else to the plan of getting fit and healthy and report back on how I have done one week of drinking well!

IM very like you! I don’t drink hardly anything and it’s common for me to only have 1 – 2 cups of cordial a day (to take tablets with no less!) and I don’t drink coffee ! Sometimes I drink diet coke. I’m wondering if that’s the reason my weightloss on slimming world is so slow’
Anhwhoo! Goodluck! I’m here if you need to chat or need inspiration. Slowly is the way forward – seems like a long journey but it’s better sustainable for the future and our health 🙂 x
Totally agree with you there Laura, slowly does it is the better way and not to try to rush into these things at all xx
