Gardening Adventures – Front Garden

For anyone that knows me, or who has ever read this blog will know that I am not the gardener of the year.

Gardening is something that I naturally struggle with and have done all the time we have lived in this house. I try my hardest at it but I am not the best at all.

But this year, Baba and I and Mr L have some great plans for our gardens, front and back. Baba has now got to the age where he loves to be in the garden and I want to embrace that as much as possible from now on. The back garden is a massive project. It literally needs to be ripped out and started again.

So we decided to start with the easier project this week, when we finally had a bit of dry weather.

Last year mum came over and planted a load of tulips, that to be honest I never thought would survive with the snow and everything else. However they have still grown. But they were getting smothered in weeds so we set out to de-weed the tulip patch.

It has actually come up really well and there are loads of tulips in there, and they are all budding as well. (Is that the correct term) God only knows see rubbish at these things.

After a little advice we also cut down the hyacinth that I got for Mother’s day and planted this in the garden with the beds of tulips, I am hoping that this will regrow out in the front garden as it was a lovely flower from Baba.

We have had some plants given to us, by some family friends, they are spreading plants I am not sure what they all are too be honest. I know that one is a fuschia that we have planted in the far corner of the bed with the tulips as there was a blank patch there.

The other two we have planted along the path as we walk to our front door. I have no idea what either is so it is a little surprise for Baba and me to be honest. Hopefully they will all grow!

These took a while to be planted as we did have to de-weed the whole of this border, as it was a complete and utter mess. So it took a long time to get rid of all the rubbish.

But thankfully it is now done and has some nice plants in it.

Let’s hope that we manage to keep on top of them all now and keep the garden looking nice and tidy!
