Developing a Love of Sewing
Last week as I sat hand sewing my square for my #crafttheparcel project, I realised that I was actually really enjoying sewing.

Sewing is not something that comes naturally to me, to be honest whenever I need something sewn I send it to my mother. But I have a lot of books at home, with lots of gorgeous sewing projects in, and years ago I worked in a patchwork shop and it has always left me wanting to make both of the boys a lovely memory quilt of their old clothes for when they are older.
So I really do need to crack sewing.
I have a sewing machine, a teeny tiny little portable one, actually I have two as I also have an old Singer that I adore with all my heart. But I don’t actually know how to use either of them.
For a while now my friend Donna, and I have wanted to have a regular craft meet to get on with crafts for ourselves, we both run craft businesses and we make a lot for other people but never make things for ourselves. So last night we had our first meeting and I trotted off with my little machine, and Donna kindly taught me how to use it.
And I loved it.
There are so many things I could make now, but I need to not run before I can walk, and am going to start small, with a pincushion, and a mat to put my sewing machine on.
I am going to try to make a test patchwork quilt, so I can work out what and how I would like to do the boys quilts in the future.
But I need some space, I feel like a need a dedicated sewing space, one that I can crack on with things and keep them there. I need a bigger area than my craft room, which is full of paper! Not that Mr L would ever agree to that, but its nice to dream lol
For now I will just hit pinterest and practice my sewing alongside the papercrafting!

I am starting to crochet though I have only done one line
