Dettol’s Mission For Health

A few weeks ago I was contacted asking if I would like to be a part of Dettol’s Mission for Health. This is a new campaign that was launched on the 1st of March to promote a healthier environment in the home, community and beyond.

Dettol’s Mission for Health has lots of plans to get itself out there and well known, including New Mums Programme, healthy habits lessons in schools and with it’s partnership with Save The Children. It is reaching out to mums, teachers, and the wider community to show us all awareness of how we can promote a healthier environment.

But it is starting at the core in the family home by suggesting ways that mums can do more for a healthy home, hygiene hot spots to be aware of and useful tips to take care of the family.

There are some wonderful tips on all of these on Dettol’s new website.

But Dettol’s Mission for Health is going that one step further as well, it has got some amazing people supporting the mission. Dr Dawn Harper, of Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies. Dr Lisa Ackerley the BBC’s hygiene expert and Nikki Khan Prima Baby’s expert midwife are all giving practical advice on improving hygiene at home for mums. Especially for mums bringing home or expecting new babies, when they need to be vigilant at home.

Dettol’s Mission for Health will let mums be back in control. By using the website mums will be able to find information about hygiene hot spots, how to keep their homes hygienic by using quick and easy tips, advising on the tools to protect their families health and giving healthy living advice for the whole family.

As well as all this advice on the site Dr Lisa Ackerley will also be offering advice through informative and easy to follow videos available online.

As well as all of this Dettol’s Mission for Health also have a fantastic Facebook page, for every like this page gets Mission for Health will donate 20 pence to Save The Children and they are aiming to donate £20,000 to the charity . But that is not all if you like the page you also get the chance to win one of 5,000 Dettol Baby packs. Which includes tips and money off vouchers for some Dettol Items. Fantastic!

Here are some great starting points for joining Dettol’s Mission for Health:

1) Regularly disinfect commonly touched surfaces. Some harmful germs can survive on surfaces for longer periods. Which are then transferred to other surfaces in sufficient numbers causing a risk to catch them and develop an infection.

2) Use a surface cleanser with proven efficacy to kill 99.9% of harmful germs.

3) Practice good hand hygiene, wash hands regularly with an antibacterial hand wash and dry properly.

4) If there is no soap and water use a hand sanitizer.

5) Practice good cough and sneezing etiquette, always cover your nose and mouth with a tissue and dispose of immediately.

6) Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes with your hands. This reduces chances of getting infected.

So what to do next to join Dettol’s Mission for Health or more information got to their website or to their facebook page.
