Camping

Yesterday afternoon we went to see my sister and her family as they are camping at a local park near us, and I got badgered the whole time I was there…

To go camping with Mr L, Baba and Tito.

Camping to me is my worst nightmare, I don’t mind going to see my sister when they camp or anyone else to be honest. But the thought of being in a tent over night, cold and open to all the elements. Needing a wee late at night and having to walk to the toilets. Having to walk to a shower block, and have a shower away from where I am living is just hell and a disaster to me.

I never ever want to go, and if Mr L ever does convince me I have told him I wont have fun! I am perfectly happy for him and Baba to go, that does not bother me at all. Tito is not a dog that would sit in a car and wait for us to eat somewhere like other dogs would, we would come back to a trashed car and mayhem. I don’t think he would be happy going back in a crate anymore either in a tent. So that would be a disaster as well.

The whole thought of camping feels me with dread I am happy to stay in a caravan or lodge anywhere in the country, but I am not happy to go camping. We have been to see my sister a few times camping now and so far nothing has convinced me that it is a good idea.

If it’s hot the tent is stupidly hot, there are wasps and bees everywhere and I don’t know how you sleep at night in the heat. I get bitten by bugs every year, my sister is a person that never gets bitten, every year she has been bitten horribly by bugs and things, her legs have looked horrendous, I am not going through that! When it gets cold it gets really cold, I hate being cold especially at night and this would make me so grumpy.

I can never imagine going camping, going off to a caravan site is fine, have no problems with that. I have no problems with Baba and Mr L going camping but I just don’t want to be included.

I would also like to add I have no problems with other people camping just don’t include me. It fills me with dread!

  • When wayne suggested we went camping about 12 years ago, i was exactly like you. I wanted my creature comforts and everything. The first night was hell, wind, rain and i was freezing. The next day we got up and i was miserable, but after breakfast something changed. I looked at Teenage Mission who was only 1 at the time and he ws having so much fun. Splashing, playing, running around, it was amazing how much fun a little boy could have with fresh air and a massive field.

Now we are hooked, we go away as much as we can every year, weekends, bank holidays etc. Yes i get bitten by every bug going but i have now been bitten by a different bug “a camping bug” i love the fresh air the freedom and the calm way of life.

So much so i actually want to move to the country, with a massive back garden so we can camp out all summer.

Give it a go, if you dont love it then at least you have tried. :0)

    • We live in the country we can go out for walks and Baba has a good garden in our house, he has a good garden at Mr L’s mums, a massive garden at my mums and massive gardens at Pop and Nans Mr L’s grandparents so we don’t need to go there is no need! xxx

  • I love camping and start counting the days to warmer weather from about mid-February.

I’m not a particularly outdoorsy kind of person (and we take an electric hook-up so I can take my hair straighteners!) but I just love going camping.

I wasn’t too sure about it before we went for the first time (about 4 yrs ago) but was instantly hooked! Would you not even consider just one night somewhere very close to home? You might be surprised 🙂

    • I don’t think I would I really don’t think it is for me I just can’t imagine why you would do it xx

  • Oh no – me too! We have to go camping a lot this summer as we are away with the dogs all over the country doing displays – our first camp trip is this weekend coming. I insisted on buying a portable toilet cos I always need to go to the loo during the night & don’t fancy stumbling across a field at 2am… Hopefully it’ll be bearable and won’t pour… Ugh. PS – I’m bringing thermals as well 😉

    • You see that would be me a portable loo sounds a genius idea I hope it goes well and isn’t too bad xx

  • Oh I love camping and I miss it so much! The thought of taking Oli though actually sends shivers down my spine, not a chance in hell you would find me camping with that toddler. Gavin hates camping so doubt I’ll see us doing it as a family thing, oh well at least hotel rooms have kettles and warm showers! ;o) xX

We love comments so please leave some
