Butlins Part Two – Saturday

In July we went on our first holiday to Butlins in Bognor Regis. It was our first holiday for a long time and was just a long weekend away, you can read all about Part One of our holiday here.

Saturday the boys woke early and it was a gorgeous day, lovely and warm and brilliant sunshine.

The first thing that we did was go to the restaurant for our breakfast. As we had prepaid for our breakfast and dinner while we were there.

Baba loved the breakfast, he could have cooked, or cereal and was able to go and pick his own choice of food. Which resulted in sausages, bacon and toast for him.

Boo also loved it as he could have his cereal and toast and was happy finishing off with a yoghurt as well.

There was lots of food available for breakfast, and it did set us up for the rest of the day.

All the boys wanted to do from the moment they woke up was go for a swim, but we managed to convince them to have a little play in the arcades, and have a game of bowling before hand to let their food go down.

We were on a little bit of a time scale as we were of to the 3D Science show in the afternoon, and making sure that Boo had a good sleep in between all of the activities.

Baba was quiet excited about bowling, and it was something that Boo had never done before. As it was a very small bowling area it was a perfect one for him to have his first go at bowling on.

Baba ended up winning the game, with Boo coming a close second, although he had a lot of help!

Mr L came third and I came badly last, but I have never been great at bowling and it isn’t something that I really love!

After bowling we couldn’t contain them any longer and they were adamant they wanted to go swimming.

Again another first for Boo. With his skin I have always been really nervous about taking him swimming as I didn’t want the chlorine to upset his skin any more than it already was.

But he was actually fine, the swimming pool didn’t bother his skin at all.

But taking him swimming was an experience, first of all he didn’t like it, then he realised he loved it but didn’t want anyone else in the pool with him, so just shouted at people, and then he finally accepted that it was ok to be in the pool with loads of other people.

Baba was also amazing, he hadn’t been swimming for a long time, and still wasn’t swimming, but he attempted the slides with Daddy, and then ditched Daddy to go on the slide by himself. Obviously once he had a go Boo had to have a go too, as he has to do everything Baba does. And before we knew it, Boo was jumping and sliding everywhere and thought the swimming pool was amazing.

They loved every moment of pool, and when we came out the weather was lovely.

We had to get ready for the 3D Science show which Baba totally loved, and was very good. He loved the people who were presenting it, and there was a nice mix in the show, of just having the presenters on the stage and then the 3D showings. There were a few 3D moments when Baba and I completely jumped out at you, which Mr L thought was hilarious. But it really was a great show. It left us very excited for the 3D Amazing Animals show that we had also booked for Sunday.

After the 3D Science Show, we decided to have a little walk around outside as the weather was still lovely. Baba got to play in the outside splash area, and then we had an ice cream and waffles at the ice cream place.

After we had our ice creams I took Boo of a walk around the park so that he would go to sleep, so he was awake enough to see the Scooby Doo Live show in the evening as Mr L and I knew him and Baba would love that, and Mr L took Baba to the outside play area in the pub so he could have a good play without Boo.

Boo finally fell asleep and I wandered over to meet Mr L and Baba, who was happy playing on the wooden outside play area.

Mr L and I were sitting and enjoying the sun, chilling for the first time in a long time Boo was asleep and Baba was playing in the play area, when Baba got down from the play area with blood pouring from his head. Where he had walked head first into the bridge in the play area.

Some lovely boys had walked him out of the play area and too us, it was then a mad dash to the medical room. Luckily the paramedic was still on site, and dealt with Baba brilliantly and quickly and as with all cuts on your head, it looked a lot worse than what it was and bleed far more than it needed to. When he was all cleaned up there was a tiny cut on his forehead, and luckily it could all be dealt with on site, with a plaster, some calpol and some rest.

So that meant no more swimming for the day, and no going on the fairground as we had promised him he could do later in the day. For the rest of the afternoon we chilled in our room, and pottered about in the arcade, nothing too exciting, but not totally boring either.

After a couple of hours Baba seemed fine in himself and we went back to the restaurant for our dinner, before heading to the entertainment in the evening to watch Scooby Doo Live.

This was a brilliant show, I am not sure who liked it more Baba or Boo, Baba loved the story Boo loved the van and Scooby Doo. Both stayed to the end of the show, with lots of laughing and shouting, and getting involved in the show.

By the time it was finished both of the boys were pretty shattered and Boo went to sleep very quickly once we got back into the room, while Baba and Mr L went wondering for a pizza for us all to share!

It was another lovely day at Butlins, even with Baba’s injury that was dealt with amazingly by the medical team there, we couldn’t have asked for a better service.

We all went to bed happy ready for more fun on Sunday.
