A Letter To Our Seven Year Old

Today you turn SEVEN!

And we really couldn’t be prouder.

This year you have changed so much.

You have opinions, you have learnt to argue, you a force to be reckoned with, you have my skill of not forgetting, your dads quick wit as bringing someone down in a couple of words, you dads determination and my stubbornness that means you must have the last word. However much later it is!

It doesn’t always make life easy, but I would prefer a child who has a opinion rather than not any day however hard it can be at times.

This year has seen you grow and not just in height!

You have become a gorgeous brother to Boo, yes you argue, yes you both annoy the hell out of each other and drive your dad and I to distraction, but no one can touch you two. He adores you and that shows the world how wonderful you are with him. We can quite often catch you curled up in your bed of a morning reading, or sharing your toys.

He totally idolises you, and even though he says no to cuddles and kisses from you I hope that you understand how much he utterly loves you, and wants to do everything you do. He shows you in other ways and that is by copying everything you do.

You are doing so well at school, and we really couldn’t be prouder of you in the way you have tackled learning, and I personally love that you have developed a love of books like myself your auntie and nanny. It is something I adore watching develop in front of my eyes, and I love that when you have a head in your book you are lost in the fantasy world and nothing else matters.

But this year has seen you grow in your sports as well. Who knew this time last year by the age of seven we would have a fantastic golfer in the family and a child that can swim. You were so terrified of learning to swim, but you were determined and you know what it proves if you are determined you literally can do anything, because you cracked it in less than a month. I don’t know if you ever saw, but the day you swim three-quarters of a length of the big pool doing a front crawl with the correct breathing, myself and your Daddy were jumping up and down in the cafe, so so proud of you.

You wanted to play golf, and Daddy was so pleased you finally were showing an interest in a sport and you have a skill. It is something you are so disciplined about, watching you be so serious, not messing around, and listening so well in your lessons is a joy to watch. And you have learnt so much in the time you have been learning.

You are no longer a baby, you will always be our baby, but you are gaining your independence everyday. You are developing a strong character.

You are loyal, your friends are for life, but will openly and honestly (sometimes too honestly) when they have annoyed you or have done wrong. You are fair, and you totally see things in black and white, there is no grey area with you. You will scream and shout if someone upsets you, and your family do get the brunt of it, but you know what you scream and shout and then you forgive.

You wear your heart on your sleeve and I love that about you.

There is no messing in your eyes, you see what you get, you tell people your issues and you move on.

You are growing in confidence, but you doubt your skill in things, and I hope that over the years you will stop that, and believe in yourself, because you have shown when you are determined you excel.

You are a caring, loving, determined, honest, loyal and gorgeous boy, and we really couldn’t be prouder of how you are turning out.

You take everything in your stride.

You love your family, you adore your friends and everyone you met you make comfortable, and they adore you.

Carry on as you are, you can only grow and we can not wait to see where your next year takes you.

But for now We love you Baba, and we hope you have a fantastic 7th Birthday!

Love Mummy, Daddy, Rhianna Lily and Boo xxx
