I haven’t participated in The Gallery for a long time, but this week meant a lot to me.

This Easter has been a very different one to ones we have had in the past, we are not a big Easter family. It has never been overly celebrated but with everything that has happened these past few weeks we made a real effort to spend time together this Easter. An effort to be a family and to let Baba spend some quality time with Mr L and myself. We wanted to put some normality back into our lives, but also to keep Rhianna very much with us all.

This Easter it has been about learning new things with Daddy, and other members of the family. Baba has been planting plants, learning to ride a bike and playing football.

It has been about chilling and spending time with the dog, who has also been hugely left to his own devices these past few weeks and he has known. He has been hugely unsettled he doesn’t like anyone crying in the house he gets a little frantic and sits very close almost on your lap when you are sad. So he has needed a little TLC like the rest of us.

It has been about flowers, we have never had so many flowers in our house. It has been about keeping them alive as long as possible. We have been rearranging the flowers on the grave and making it look as pretty as we can, we have been up and down there over Easter taking the dead ones away and rearranging the ones that have survived. Flowers are suddenly a huge part of our lives and we all love it.

Easter has been about being a family this year and making us all as close as possible and that includes Rhianna too. So when Baba got this gorgeous wind tube from a friend on her funeral, it was important it was put in pride of place in our garden as soon as possible.

It is about remembering for us this year, and we have all enjoyed the quiet simple, important things this year, each other and us as a family.

What a lovely selection of photos and I love the fact that you have included your dog – they do seem to pick up on human emotions don’t they? Take care x
