We are an animal family, both Mr L and I grew up around animals and as soon as we had our own flat we had our first pet. Our hamster, Tyson. Once we moved to a house we brought our dog and we have never restricted Baba with animals, there are limits of what he is allowed, but we have not had to cross that yet! But we do have a lot of animals, especially as he is not yet three! I hate to think what our house may be like when he is eight. As the love for animals has been passed down to Baba with a passion, you can read all about his obsession here!

In our house alone we have Tito our beagle…

I wanted him, I walk him, I feed him. He loves Mr L and adores Baba! Go figure, isn’t it always the way. He is a lovely dog, he is soft, gentle and never barks. We have had a lot of issues with Tito in the four years we have had him, he has been incredible poorly, he nearly died at a couple of months old as he got a stone stuck in his small intestine but we would not change him for the world. Even though he doesn’t bark he has an art of nagging in silence!

We have JoJo the rabbit…

Who is a funny little character and actually spends most of his day on his hind legs, it is rare that he is on all four feet. He is a bit of an escape artist though, as are all our animals and has been found in the alley way more times than I would like to mention.

We also have his brother Stewie…

He is a pig end of! He will do anything for food, doesn’t like to be picked up and has this annoying habit of throwing his food bowl over his head! Nightmare rabbit.

Then we have the added addition of Mr Snail, (if you don’t like them I suggest you look away now)

I blame Emma entirely for this, as Baba developed a love for her African Snail and she sent us a link where to buy them, before I knew it Baba and Mr L had ordered an African Snail. Baba loves him and he is a little fascinating but a bit gross as well I have to admit! But he doesn’t do any harm and is so easy to look after he really isn’t a problem.

However Baba’s love for animals doesn’t stop here he has a great fondness of my great Uncles tortoise, and finds him fascinating. Especially when he is feed some peas, Baba can spend hours in the garden with him just watching him slowly wander around.

And whenever we go to the zoo we have to stop and have a look at these guys as Baba loves them…

But they are a little magnificent so you can’t really blame him.

I hope his love for animals continues, as we both love him watching, learning and getting excited about them. Animals bring something magical to live I think and I love having them around us everyday however much I moan and groan about them they are great in all their own ways.

I once read that tortoises are often family pets, in that they are passed down through the family because of the length that they live. I would love a tortoise, maybe when The Boy is older.

Yes very true this tortoise is forty or fifty years old, so will probably be passed down as I think he has a few years left him yet! xx
