Baba has a little obsession with Pokemon, he loves them, and watches, reads about them, colours them in and collect the cards. Which in itself isn’t too bad however he has a lot of cards and you find them around the house in drawers and down the side of the sofa and then he gets upset when Boo gets hold of them, and the only thing we had keeping them together was a plastic sandwich bag which really wasn’t good enough. We had to think of a good Pokemon storage system. But I was struggling to come up with anything.
Then the other day when I was clearing out some rubbish I was getting ready to put a delivery box into the recycling and had an idea. The lids of the box were the right height for Baba’s Pokemon cards, and if I just cut all the edges of the box and used some of Baba’s duct tape I could make the perfect box for his Pokemon cards.
It really was that simple.
I cut of all the edges of the box, and used a Pokemon card to work out the width I needed the box and cut the longest strip this size, and folded it up to create to ends to the box. I then used the smaller strips which were the perfect height to create the sides of the box, and attached these with some duct tape.
Once the box was created it was still a little flimsy so I covered it inside with duct tape and covered the outside of the box with duct tape being particularly careful around the corners and joins of the cardboard. I then repeated this and went over the outside of the box again with duct tape to make the whole box a little heavier and stronger. When all together these cards aren’t the lightest thing so I wanted to make sure the box could hold all of Baba’s Pokemon cards.
It didn’t take long to complete maybe 3o mins at the most, but it was something that was so simple but solved so many issues with the Pokemon cards. When Baba woke up in the morning he loved the box, and has been sorting out his cards in it ever since.
