This is not a post for healthy eating.
But it is a great cooking post.
A recipe that we use over and over again, one that my mum also uses and one that is a great backup if you need biscuits and don’t have any at home.
It is also a great recipe to make with children, I have always made these with Baba and actually made them with Boo the other day as well. As they are super easy to make and super fast to bake, and super quick to cool. There really is hardly any waiting time, perfect for children who want to see results and fast.
The whole recipe makes around 24 biscuits so there is a nice big batch.
125g/4oz butter or margarine
50g/2oz caster sugar
125g /4oz self-raising flour
25g /1oz cocoa (I have always used drinking chocolate, or chocolate milkshake powder)
Pre heat the oven to 190 degrees / Gas Mark 5
The recipe says beat the butter and sugar and then sift in the flour and cocoa and mix well. I have always just put all the ingredients in the bowl and mixed it all together, it makes the whole mixing a little quicker.
Once the mixture is mixed make them into small balls and place them onto a greased tray with room to spread.
Flatten each ball with the back of a fork leaving marks.
So your biscuits should look like this
Put them in the middle of the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, I always check after 10 minutes but they usually do need 15 minutes in our oven.
When cooked move to a wire rack to cool which takes about 5 minutes
Then enjoy these lovely crispy chocolate biscuits.
