We are a family of pet owners, we have Tito our beagle, Stewie the rabbit, Bob the hamster, Mr Snail our African Snail and Fred the Bearded Dragon and would probably have more if we had the space. To be honest Mr Snail and Fred are really not are hard work. Nor are Tito, Stewie or Bob however all of them leave fur, and sawdust all over the place. So when we were offered the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Upright Vacuum to review I jumped at the chance.
The Pet Hair Eraser Upright Vacuum is a newly improved specialist vacuum cleaner, that not only deals with your normal vacuuming needs but also has the addition of unique tools to get rid of the pet hair from your carpets, furniture and other hard to reach errors. I will be honest this appealed to me, we have lots of pet hair in our house and we can never seem to get rid of it.
The Pet Hair Eraser is a cylinder format, making light work of the cleaning in the house. It has an extendable hose and three unique pet tools for cat and dog owners.
A little bit about the unique tools
The Pet Hair Lifter™ – a unique flip down, built in, lint brush; ideal for capturing pet hair and dander whilst vacuuming carpets, rugs or hard floors. Just vacuum like you normally would. The vacuum will grab pet hair when you pull back and it will release hair and suction it up when you push forward. This is great for cats and dogs that shed lots of hair.
Extra Wide Turbobrush® Pet Tool – this handy six inch tool works like a magnet for pet hair, collecting fur from your pets favourite hiding places such as beds, stairs and sofas
Pet Contour Tool™ – if you often travel with your pet in your car, this is the tool you need to use. Pulls dirt and hair from hard to reach areas.
All of these tools are fantastic. I really love the Pet Hair Lifter, this is an amazing addition to this vacuum and it really works. It is amazing the difference that this makes to picking up the dog hair off our carpets, and I was instantly impressed with this. The fact that this vacuum also has a nifty light when you turn it on that lights onto the carpet means that you can clean in and light and can still what is on the carpet regardless of the reflection or glare on the floor. Which is also a fantastic help.
Tito loves to sit on the sofa, and sleeps on the stairs, and we have used the Turbobrush regularly and it makes a massive difference. You can actually tell the difference on the stairs from cleaning with just the extended hose, or cleaning with the Turbobrush. The amount of hair that is picked up is considerably different. I was shocked at the difference to be honest.
The Pet Contour Tool has been used in the car, and is a great tool. It works fantastically on the car seats and we got a lot of dirt and hair from the car. It is also easy to use with the nice long hose and the long electrical cord that this vacuum has.
As well as the Upright Vacuum Cleaner we were also sent the Pet Hair Eraser Handheld to review, that actually comes free with the Upright Vacuum Cleaner when brought at Argos. This is a brilliant little vacuum and has been used regularly especially for just the small messy bits in the house, and has been used a lot when cleaning out the hamster as it makes a little mess but not a massive one. Baba also loves to use this, so he is able to help Mummy with the cleaning which is even better.
We have been testing these vacuums for a good few months now and they haven’t failed to perform great. I have to confess that I was not the first to use it. When I was in hospital my parents came round and my dad actually used it first, now dad has OCD about cleaning he is a fanatic and complains about most vacuums out there, there is always something wrong with them. This Pet Hair Eraser got no complaints from him at all. He loved it, and could not stop raving about it, and still talks about it now! That is an impressive thing for him not to complain!
The electrical cable, is so long that it can be plugged in the lounge and I can clean the kitchen, hallway lounge and stairs all from that one plug socket which is what I love. No unplugging and replugging in.
It is a little heavy but it isn’t as heavy as other vacuums that I have had, but I have also had some slightly lighter. The only issue I really have with it is that the hose consistently falls out of its place in the back of vacuum when you are cleaning. This is annoying as it stops the suction for the main part of the vacuum so you have to put it back in place to continue cleaning. It is a small thing but something that you do have to be aware off.
Even with the issue of the hose coming off all the time, this is a fantastic Vacuum and one that would be highly recommended by our house and one that does deal with a high volume of pet hair and mess in our house, and deals with it too a very hard standard.
The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Upright Vacuum Cleaner is available from Argos, Freemans, Grattans and Bissell Direct for £129.99.
The Pet Hair Eraser Cylinder Vacuum is available from Argos for £99.99
Both of these units come with a free Pet Hair Eraser Handheld when purchased from Argos worth £49.99 which is a brilliant powerful handheld vacuum. Probably the most powerful one that I have just used.
